Driving Under the Influence Has Serious Ramifications

If a driver sees another car swerving in and out of its lane it is common to suppose that the driver is either distracted or may possibly be drunk. A Nashville woman has been charged with vehicular assault. She has been accused of driving under the influence while her 6-year-old was a passenger in her car. The driver was on a local road when, according to police, her car swerved and struck a vehicle in the opposite lane.

The vehicle that was hit did not remain at the scene. Three people, including the driver’s daughter, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries. According to the police report, the driver was taken into custody and charged with driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence and vehicular assault. The woman is being held at Davidson County Jail in lieu of a $53,500 bond.
